Quick Start Guide

This guide is intended to get you started with IBM SPSS Statistics Desktop 20.

Product overview

Step 1: Access your software

If you are installing with the DVD provided with the product, proceed to the next step. If you are downloading your product from Passport Advantage®, follow the instructions in the download document available on the web at:

Step 2: Access installation instructions

Detailed installation documents (PDF) are available on the installation DVD in the /Documentation/<language>/InstallationDocuments directory. These documents can also be downloaded from the web at:

Step 3: Evaluate your hardware and system configuration

Detailed system requirements are provided within the IBM SPSS Statistics installation documents, available on the product DVD. The documents can also be downloaded from the web at:

Ensure that the target computers meet the minimum hardware and software requirements.

Step 4: Access your documentation

Access the IBM SPSS Statistics 20 Information Center on the web at:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/SPSSStat/v20r0m0/

The information center includes most of the documentation provided with IBM SPSS Statistics 20; however, the installation documents are provided separately (as described above).

Once the product is installed, an information center is also available locally by pressing F1 or choosing Topics from the Help menu.

Step 5: Install IBM SPSS Statistics

To install the product, please refer to the following documents, which you can find in the /Documentation/<language>/InstallationDocuments directory on the DVD. As previously mentioned, the installation documents can also be accessed from the web at:

If you have a single user license, refer to:

• Single User License Installation Instructions.pdf

If you have a site license, refer to:

• Site License Administrators Guide.pdf. Read this document first. It contains information about distributing the software to the users.
• Site License Installation Instructions.pdf. Read this document for information about installing the product on the end users ' computers. You can also distribute this document to the end users. You also have the option of distributing an abbreviated version of these instructions (Site License Installation Instructions (Abbreviated).pdf).

If you have a network (concurrent) license, refer to:

• Network License Administrators Guide.pdf. Read this document first. It contains information about setting up the network license manager and distributing the software to the users.
• Network License Installation Instructions.pdf. Read this document for information about installing the product on the end users' computers. You can also distribute this document to the end users. You also have the option of distributing an abbreviated version of these instructions (Network License Installation Instructions (Abbreviated).pdf).
